US stock futures climbed early Monday as reports of a truce between Washington and Tehran reduced geopolitical risks. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 1.2%, while S&P 500 futures added 0.8%, recovering from last week’s sharp losses. Dow Jones futures rose 0.4%, reflecting muted tech exposure.
Markets had entered the week on edge after US strikes on Iranian targets sparked fears of broader Middle East conflict and energy supply disruptions. Brent crude briefly rose to $73 a barrel before paring gains, while WTI traded near $70. Technology stocks faced additional pressure, with Nvidia and Alphabet both dropping over 8% last week.
Investors are now focused on Thursday’s June jobs report, moved forward due to the Fourth of July holiday. South Korean stocks rebounded slightly, with the Kospi closing down just 0.2% after Samsung and SK Hynix pledged AI investments.
