US stocks finished in negative territory as a midday rebound in the Nasdaq failed to hold. The S&P 500 closed at 7483.22, down 16.13 points or 0.22%, after peaking 22.46 points higher earlier. The Nasdaq dropped 173.69 points, or 0.66%, after rallying 24.34 points from session lows.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.02% in the final minutes, with Caterpillar (CAT) leading decliners at -6.86%. Nike (NKE) and Salesforce (CRM) were top gainers, rising 5.07% and 4.25%, respectively. Chip-related stocks underperformed, with Nebius NV (NBIS) plunging 17.02% and Micron (MU) falling 10.41%.

The S&P 500 remained above its 200-hour moving average at 7470.66, while the Nasdaq’s late-session weakness erased earlier optimism in tech shares.
