Indian auto supplier Uno Minda approves Rs3.20bn funding for a new seating systems facility targeting 240,000 units annual capacity by FY2027-28.
Uno Minda will invest Rs3.20bn ($33.4m) to build a greenfield plant in Maharashtra for passenger vehicle seating systems. The facility, operated by joint venture Uno Minda Tachi-S Seating, aims for 240,000 units annual capacity starting Q4 FY2027-28.
The project expands the company’s partnership with Japan’s Tachi-S Co, initially formed in 2022 to produce seat recliners. Additional capacity will be added through FY2030-31, financed via equity and term loans. Uno Minda also approved a Rs930m equity infusion into the joint venture, maintaining its 51% stake.
The move targets growing demand from automakers and broadens Uno Minda’s four-wheeler seating segment presence.
