Tokenized RWAs grow nearly sixfold in 18 months, led by bonds and money market funds adding $6.5 billion in value.
Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) surged 589% from early 2025 to June 2026, defying broader crypto market weakness. The sector’s expansion was driven by institutional adoption of blockchain-based stocks, gold, and real estate, with bonds and money market funds contributing $6.5 billion in new value.
Bonds and money market funds led growth in dollar terms, rising 83%, while tokenized stocks saw the fastest increase at 422%. Tokenized precious metals added $1.5 billion, or 39%, as geopolitical tensions boosted demand for safe-haven assets like gold, pushing its tokenized market above $6 billion before cooling.
The RWA market is diversifying beyond Treasury-focused products, signaling maturation. Platforms like Ondo Global Markets, which offers tokenized stocks and ETFs, surpassed $1 billion in total value locked within eight months, highlighting growing institutional interest.
