Thiel Macro LLC acquired a 1% stake in Vista Energy, valued at $76 million as of June 30, according to a regulatory filing. The position consists of 1.2 million American Depositary Shares, making it the fund’s second-largest holding after Amazon.

Vista Energy, Argentina’s largest independent energy company, operates in the Vaca Muerta shale formation, which holds the world’s second-largest shale gas reserves. The company produces 160,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily and has invested over $6.5 billion in Argentina.

Thiel Macro’s U.S. equity portfolio rebounded to over $400 million in Q2 after two quarters of zero disclosed holdings. Energy and utility stocks dominate the fund’s new positions, signaling a sector-focused strategy.
