Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft alone account for nearly 19% of the S&P 500 ETF’s portfolio, amplifying concentration risks.
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) holds 505 stocks but behaves like a concentrated fund, with its top 10 holdings making up 37% of assets. Nvidia leads at 7.3%, followed by Apple at 7.1% and Microsoft at 4.4%.
The so-called Magnificent 7 tech giants represent 32% of the fund, skewing performance toward a handful of mega-cap stocks. Information Technology dominates the sector allocation at 37%, nearly triple the weight of Financials, the next largest sector.
This structure ties SPY’s movements closely to a few high-profile companies, increasing volatility sensitivity for investors seeking broad market exposure.
