SpaceX briefly surpassed Amazon in market valuation after its IPO, now trading near $2 trillion amid high growth expectations.

Space Exploration Technologies (SPCX) reached a market capitalization of $2 trillion following its recent IPO, briefly overtaking Amazon (AMZN) before retreating. The surge reflects investor optimism about its satellite internet and AI ambitions, despite its smaller revenue base compared to established tech giants.

In 2025, SpaceX reported $18.7 billion in revenue and a $2.6 billion operating loss, while Amazon generated $717 billion in revenue and $80 billion in operating income. SpaceX’s 33% revenue growth outpaced Amazon’s 12%, though its financial scale remains significantly smaller. Amazon’s mature businesses, including AWS with $129 billion in revenue, provide a stark contrast to SpaceX’s early-stage expansion.

The company’s addressable market is projected in the trillions, fueling speculation about its long-term potential. However, its current valuation hinges on future growth rather than present profitability.
