The Elon Musk-led firm may launch a direct-to-consumer wireless offering, challenging Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
SpaceX is exploring a Starlink-branded mobile phone service for US consumers, potentially entering the terrestrial wireless market. The move follows recent spectrum acquisitions totaling $19.6 billion, including a $17 billion purchase in September 2025 and a $2.6 billion deal in November.
The company currently partners with T-Mobile to provide satellite connectivity in remote areas. A standalone service would intensify competition with established carriers. SpaceX has over 10 million Starlink subscribers globally and recently debuted on NASDAQ at $135 per share, trading at $153 on Friday.
Investors were told the retail product could combine satellite and terrestrial infrastructure to capture more customer revenue.
