Sweden’s Riksbank is maintaining its current policy stance, with inflation below target reducing urgency for aggressive tightening. The central bank’s repo rate path includes two potential hikes, but these are seen as precautionary rather than imminent moves.

The Swedish Krona (SEK) remains under pressure due to valuation concerns and a high KIX index, which measures import-weighted exchange rates. The June Monetary Policy Report projected the KIX at 116.18, reflecting expectations of a weaker SEK and higher import prices. Despite this, producer prices are aligning with forecasts, and stable CPI keeps the Riksbank from accelerating hikes.

Analysts suggest the Riksbank will avoid forceful SEK-supportive measures as long as inflation remains controlled. The bank’s cautious approach contrasts with peers facing more immediate inflation risks.
