The defense tech firm will supply its vertical takeoff drone system to Taiwan’s Coast Guard under a new contract.

Redwire (RDW) has won a contract to deliver its Penguin Mk2.5 VTOL Uncrewed Aerial System to the Taiwan Coast Guard. The deal was awarded by Taiwan Color Optics, a subsidiary of SemiLux International, and involves drones capable of vertical takeoff and landing for surveillance and operational use.

The Penguin Mk2.5 system is designed for maritime and coastal missions, offering enhanced monitoring capabilities. No financial terms of the contract were disclosed. Redwire’s stock rose following the announcement, reflecting investor optimism about its expanding defense and aerospace portfolio.

The agreement underscores growing demand for uncrewed systems in regional security applications, particularly in the Asia-Pacific.
