Preliminary talks aim to explore settlement options for California’s lawsuit blocking Paramount’s $110 billion Warner Bros acquisition.

Paramount and California state officials will meet Monday to discuss a potential settlement in the lawsuit seeking to block Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery. The talks are preliminary, with no guarantee of progress toward a resolution, and were requested by Paramount.

California and 11 other states sued last month to halt the deal, arguing it would reduce competition in film distribution and cable television, harming theaters, pay TV distributors, and workers. States including New York and Arizona claimed the merger would raise consumer prices and suppress wages.

The meeting, arranged over the past week, will include senior executives and legal teams from both sides. No immediate market reaction was reported.
