Igor Runets faces pretrial detention after investigators accuse his firm of failing to deliver mining equipment or refund a RUB 1 billion advance.
A Moscow court has ordered the pretrial detention of Igor Runets, founder of BitRiver, Russia’s largest crypto-mining operator, for two months. Authorities allege his company received a RUB 1 billion advance from an En+ subsidiary for mining equipment but neither delivered the machines nor returned the funds.
BitRiver previously ranked first among Russian mining firms by revenue. The case centers on accusations of large-scale fraud, with investigators claiming the advance payment was never fulfilled.
No immediate market reaction was reported following the court’s decision.
