The move underscores Meta’s focus on data-driven decision-making as it ramps up AI infrastructure spending to $145 billion this year.

Meta named Alex Schultz, its chief marketing officer, as its first chief data officer to oversee AI analytics globally. The company also promoted Denise Moreno to chief marketing officer, replacing Schultz.

The leadership changes reflect Meta’s strategy to integrate AI and data-driven processes across operations. Schultz, a 17-year veteran, previously led brand strategy and privacy campaigns, while Moreno managed growth experiments.

Meta’s AI infrastructure spending is projected to reach $145 billion in 2024, part of Big Tech’s $700 billion outlay on AI. Shares rose 10% on reports of a new cloud business selling excess AI capacity.
