Lactalis is investing €50m to expand quark production at its Neuburg, Germany facility, increasing annual output by 40,000 metric tonnes. The project will also yield 104,000 metric tonnes of whey, raising total production to 308,000 metric tonnes annually.

The site, which already produces milk, cream, yoghurts, and desserts, will shift to a 24/7 three-shift system and hire 70 additional employees. Lactalis employs 1,300 people across six German sites and processes 792 million litres of milk annually.

The investment follows a broader €1bn plan announced in September to modernize French production facilities by 2030, focusing on equipment upgrades and decarbonization.
