JPMorgan’s JEPQ leads with a 24% one-year return and a $0.64 July distribution, but faces higher Nasdaq-100 volatility risk.
JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ) has delivered a 24% one-year gain and a $0.64 July payout, outpacing its S&P 500-focused counterpart, JEPI. The fund’s Nasdaq-100 concentration, however, exposes it to greater downside risk in a market correction.
JEPI, by contrast, limits single-stock exposure to under 2%, diversifying across sectors like Broadcom, Ross Stores, and Amazon. Both funds employ covered-call strategies, charging 0.35% in fees, but JEPI’s lower volatility base suffers more from a VIX at 16, below its 12-month average of 18.
The trade-off between smoother returns (JEPI) and higher income (JEPQ) has shifted, with JEPQ’s performance and payouts drawing investor attention ahead of July 2026 distributions.
