Japan’s economy grew 0.3% in real terms in the second quarter
The Japanese economy grew by 0.3% in real terms in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter.
In nominal terms, the economy grew by 1.2% compared to the previous quarter, as expected, meaning that overall economic inflation was higher than anticipated.
The higher inflation should keep up the pressure on the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates again as early as September or October, which should support the JPY.
