Gold August futures fall 0.5% to $4,059.30, hitting their lowest level since November 2025 amid expectations of Fed rate increases.
Gold August futures (GC=F) opened at $4,130 on Wednesday, down 0.5% from Tuesday’s close, before sliding further to $4,059.30. The decline marks the lowest opening price this week and the first time gold has traded below $4,100 since November 2025.
Analysts have revised gold price forecasts downward after the latest Fed meeting, with many now anticipating two rate hikes this year. A stronger USD and higher yields reduce gold’s appeal as a non-yielding asset, pressuring prices. Year-over-year gains have slowed to 23%, down from 95.6% in January.
The metal faces additional headwinds from a stronger dollar, making it more expensive for foreign buyers. Weekly and monthly declines stand at 4.8% and 8.6%, respectively.
