The expansion adds 240,000 barrels per day of ethane export capacity, fully committed under long-term agreements through the 2040s.
Energy Transfer will increase ethane export capacity at its Nederland terminal by 240,000 barrels per day, alongside 55,000 barrels per day of additional LPG capacity. The expansion is driven by rising global demand for natural gas liquids and follows long-term customer commitments extending into the 2040s.
Since 2021, the terminal has exported over 430 million barrels of ethane. The project includes pipeline capacity upgrades and two new NGL ship docks. Storage expansions for propane and butane, totaling 1.2 million and 0.8 million barrels respectively, are expected to be operational by early 2027.
The company cited sustained growth in NGL demand as justification for the investment, which aligns with its strategy to expand Nederland’s export infrastructure.
