LEU shares fall sharply after mixed earnings and concerns over Russian uranium import ban in 2028 weigh on sentiment.

Centrus Energy (NYSE: LEU) shares have declined approximately 63% from their October 2025 peak of $464.25, now trading near $54. The drop follows a mixed first-quarter earnings report and volatility in spot uranium prices, alongside uncertainty about future production ahead of a 2028 ban on Russian low-enriched uranium imports.

The company had surged earlier in 2025 on contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration to supply high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for advanced reactors. Demand for HALEU is projected to grow at a 10.8% compound annual rate through 2033, with Centrus holding a U.S. monopoly on its production.

Despite the recent sell-off, long-term investors are eyeing the stock as a potential entry point, citing its dominant market position and expected demand growth for next-generation nuclear fuel.
