Jeff Bezos’ space venture raises $10 billion, including $2 billion from Bezos, amid fierce competition with SpaceX and Rocket Lab.
Blue Origin has raised $10 billion in a funding round valuing the company at $130 billion. Jeff Bezos will contribute $2 billion personally, while Coatue has committed $4 billion, with additional investors sought to complete the round.
The funding comes as Blue Origin faces setbacks, including a May rocket explosion, and aims to return to flight by year-end. SpaceX, now public, recently raised $86 billion in its IPO, trading at $148 per share after peaking at $225, and holds a near-$2 trillion valuation.
The space sector is attracting significant capital, with Rocket Lab acquiring Iridium Communications for $8 billion to challenge SpaceX’s Starlink dominance. Investors are betting on space tech as a high-growth industry despite its risks.
