A bitcoin miner using Ocean’s DATUM protocol mined block 961,634 on the main chain, refusing to signal support for the BIP-110 fork. The block was produced two blocks after BIP-110 supporters split from the network, underscoring the proposal’s lack of traction.
BIP-110, which aimed to restrict non-financial data in transactions for a year, required 55% hashrate support but peaked at just 2.6%. After the forked chain stalled at two blocks, the main chain advanced over 200 blocks ahead.
Simple Mining, the company behind the block, stated the hashrate vote demonstrated the proposal’s unviability. The decision reflects broader resistance to the controversial fork within the mining community.
