Simon Schäfer will oversee AXA XL’s operations in Austria and Central and South-Eastern Europe starting July 2026, pending regulatory approval.
AXA XL has named Simon Schäfer as country manager for Austria and Central and South-Eastern Europe (CSEE), effective 1 July 2026. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval. Schäfer will relocate to Vienna and replace Eduard Billovits, who will focus on sales and customer responsibilities in the region.
Schäfer currently leads risk consulting for Northern Europe at AXA XL and has held senior roles in finance, transformation, and risk consulting since joining the AXA Group in 2015. His experience includes managing multicultural teams and complex transformation programs across the insurance sector.
Kai Kuklinski, AXA XL’s Northern Europe regional manager, stated Schäfer’s leadership will strengthen the company’s market position in Austria and CSEE as it pursues sustainable growth.
