AutoNation’s second-quarter adjusted earnings per share climbed to $5.56, driven by record after-sales and finance profits despite lower revenue.

AutoNation posted second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $5.56, up from $5.46 a year earlier, marking its sixth straight quarter of year-over-year growth. The increase came despite a decline in revenue to $6.93 billion from $6.97 billion and lower gross profit of $1.23 billion versus $1.28 billion in the prior-year period.

After-sales gross profit hit a record $607 million, fueled by growth in customer-pay repairs and wholesale parts. AutoNation Finance also reached a record $11 million in profit, with its portfolio expanding 52% to $2.67 billion. The company deployed $900 million in capital through June, including share buybacks and acquisitions expected to add $600 million in annual revenue.

Management expects continued EPS growth in the second half, supported by after-sales expansion, financial services, and share repurchases. Lower new-vehicle volume, partly tied to battery-electric vehicle sales and prior-year tariff-related demand, weighed on results.
