The UK grocer reassigns executive roles following the exit of its non-food and George business head after two years.

UK supermarket chain Asda is restructuring its executive team ahead of the departure of Liz Evans, chief commercial officer for non-food and managing director of its George clothing brand. Evans, who joined in January 2022, initially led the George business before expanding her role to oversee retail teams last year.

The reshuffle includes promoting David Lepley to oversee retail operations alongside his supply chain duties as chief operating officer. Rachel Eyre will take on the role of chief customer and digital officer, merging online and digital activities with her existing responsibilities. Asda is also recruiting a permanent CEO for the George brand, which will report to chief people officer James Goodman.

Executive chairman Allan Leighton praised Evans’ leadership, citing her impact on growth and operational foundations. The changes take effect at the end of the month.
