Investors react to reports Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will join Trump’s China delegation amid ongoing AI chip export restrictions.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) shares climbed in premarket trading Wednesday alongside semiconductor peers, driven by news Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang will accompany President Donald Trump on a China trip. The delegation aims to push for greater market access for U.S. businesses, though AI chip export controls remain a key sticking point.
China is a critical market for AMD, but U.S. restrictions have tightened on advanced AI hardware sales. Nvidia reported in February that U.S.-approved chip versions still lacked clearance for Chinese sales. Former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez called the trip symbolically significant but cautioned against expecting near-term policy shifts.
Separately, AMD expanded its Ryzen PRO 9000 processor lineup for workstations, introducing 3D V-Cache technology to enhance performance for data-heavy and AI-driven tasks. The move targets enterprise demand for high-efficiency computing solutions.
