Yum Brands sells underperforming Pizza Hut for $2.7 billion, splitting operations between Yum China and private equity firm LongRange Capital.
Yum Brands (YUM) agreed to sell Pizza Hut for $2.7 billion in two transactions, marking its exit from the pizza segment. The deal splits the brand, with Yum China acquiring the Chinese operations and LongRange Capital purchasing the remaining assets.
Pizza Hut, the smallest of Yum’s three major brands, reported $12.8 billion in sales in 2025 but saw same-store sales decline 1% that year and 4% in 2024. In contrast, KFC and Taco Bell posted growth, with same-store sales rising 3% and 7% in 2025, respectively.
Proceeds from the sale will follow tax adjustments, though the company has not disclosed net figures. The move reflects Yum’s focus on higher-growth segments amid stagnant performance in its pizza business.
