Yield Guild Games announced it is cutting 35 staff and closing its game publisher, YGG Play, to refocus on AI data initiatives. The move extends its operating runway to four years, supported by $20.6 million in treasury funds as of Q1’s end.
The company will discontinue its browser games LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper, along with marketing for third-party titles. However, Web3 versions of GIGACHADBAT and Ragnarok Breaker will remain operational. Yield Guild Games aims to leverage its global community to generate gaming datasets for AI training.
The crypto sector has seen over 5,000 job cuts this year, with firms like Block Inc. and Robinhood also reducing workforces amid broader industry restructuring.
