The Japanese Yen weakens for a second day, approaching its lowest level versus the US Dollar since 1986.

The Japanese Yen (JPY) extended its decline against the US Dollar (USD) for a second consecutive session, trading near 162.50 on Friday. The move brings the currency closer to its 40-year low of 162.84, reached earlier this year.

The yen’s recent weakness follows a period of sustained pressure, driven by diverging monetary policies between the Bank of Japan and the US Federal Reserve. While the Fed maintains higher interest rates, the BoJ has kept policy accommodative, widening the yield gap.

Market participants are closely watching for potential intervention by Japanese authorities, though no official action has been announced.
