WEN outlines turnaround plan after six straight quarters of falling traffic and sales, targeting underperforming restaurants for closure.

Wendy’s will close more than 100 underperforming restaurants by mid-2026 as part of a broader turnaround strategy. The closures follow a sixth consecutive quarter of declining sales and customer traffic, pressuring the fast-food chain to reverse course.

The company reported a customer satisfaction score of 77 in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, trailing competitors. CEO Bob Wright acknowledged underperformance, citing weakened brand differentiation and rising industry competition as key challenges.

Wendy’s turnaround plan focuses on menu quality, value, marketing, and operational improvements. The updated capital allocation strategy aims to support these efforts, though additional closures remain possible.
