The bank partners with ICON to offer mortgage incentives, signaling growing acceptance of 3D-printed housing in mainstream financing.

Wells Fargo will provide a 50 basis point lender credit to buyers of homes constructed using ICON’s 3D printing technology. The move designates Wells Fargo as ICON’s preferred lender for such properties, aiming to address affordability and accessibility challenges in the housing market.

Historically, 3D-printed homes faced hurdles in securing traditional mortgage financing due to concerns over durability, resale value, and loan insurability. Last year, Lennar’s mortgage division handled financing for ICON’s first completed community in Texas, highlighting the sector’s reliance on niche lenders until now.

The partnership is expected to reassure builders and buyers about the viability of 3D-printed homes, with Wells Fargo also extending financing to builders purchasing ICON’s printers.
