Ultra-wealthy Americans are increasingly emigrating, contributing to a $40 billion industry that facilitates global relocation. Rising living costs, political polarization, and economic uncertainty are key drivers behind the trend, with many seeking lower taxes and improved quality of life abroad.

Data shows the number of millionaires moving internationally has more than doubled over the past decade. Research estimates 165,000 high-net-worth individuals will relocate in 2026, up from 142,000 in 2025. UBS reported 44% of its billionaire clients under 55 moved at least once in the past year, signaling a historic shift in private wealth migration.

While the exodus may strain the U.S. economy, destination countries and relocation firms stand to benefit. The trend reflects broader global wealth redistribution, with implications for tax revenues, investment flows, and economic growth.
