Walmart’s market capitalization fell to $967.2 billion on May 21, following a post-earnings selloff that removed it from the $1 trillion valuation group. The decline followed its fiscal first-quarter report, which showed strong sales but missed operating income expectations due to higher fuel costs.

U.S. comparable-store sales rose 4.1%, and operating income increased 5%, though it would have climbed 7.5% without elevated distribution expenses. Walmart remains a leader in AI adoption, with its AI shopping agent, Sparky, doubling weekly active users and driving 35% higher spending among users.

The retailer now ranks as the 10th-most-valuable U.S. company, trailing $1 trillion peers like Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft.
