Nasdaq surges 2.1% as easing geopolitical tensions and strong tech earnings drive pre-market gains ahead of key inflation data.

Major U.S. indices closed higher Monday, led by the Nasdaq’s 2.1% gain to 25,913, as easing Middle East tensions and robust technology earnings fueled investor optimism. The S&P 500 rose 1.5% to 7,600, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.5% to 53,178. Small-cap stocks also advanced, with the Russell 2000 up 1.7% at 2,981.

Treasury yields declined across the curve as buyers targeted long-duration bonds, driven by falling oil prices and reduced geopolitical risks. The rally follows a strong start to August, with traders anticipating higher volatility post-Labor Day. Next week’s July CPI and PPI reports are expected to influence market direction.

Pre-market futures pointed higher, reflecting continued momentum from Monday’s session. Analysts highlighted strength in tech stocks, including Apple and Palantir Technologies, as key drivers of the rally.
