Volkswagen has started selling Volkswagen and Jetta vehicles in Uzbekistan, sourcing them from its Chinese factories. This marks the first time an export market is fully managed by its China business, aligning with its strategy to expand into faster-growing regions outside Europe.

Uzbekistan’s vehicle demand has more than doubled since 2021, reaching 461,000 units in 2025. The country’s population exceeds 38 million, presenting a significant growth opportunity. Volkswagen plans to establish local assembly in Tashkent by late 2026, partnering with Alyans Auto.

The move underscores Volkswagen’s reliance on China as a production hub for international markets. The company aims to combine imported vehicles with future domestic production to strengthen its position in Uzbekistan.
