Vita Coco has purchased Copra, a producer of super-premium Thai Nam Hom coconut water and coconut food products, for an initial $175m. The transaction closed on July 22 with an upfront payment, while an additional earnout of $45m to $100m may be paid in 2029 contingent on Copra’s 2028 results.
Copra, based in New York with production in Thailand, supplies both branded and private-label products. Vita Coco highlighted Copra’s expertise in sourcing and its differentiated position in the coconut water category, which remains the fastest-growing segment in beverages.
The acquisition aims to expand Vita Coco’s market share by leveraging Copra’s premium offerings and operational capacity. Executives cited opportunities to grow the category through new formats, price tiers, and consumer occasions.
