Visa Direct clients can now prefund accounts and send cross-border payouts using stablecoins through Zerohash infrastructure.
Visa is broadening its stablecoin capabilities by integrating Zerohash’s crypto infrastructure into Visa Direct. The move allows eligible clients to prefund accounts and execute cross-border payouts using stablecoins, bypassing traditional banking hours for liquidity management.
The partnership builds on Visa’s ongoing efforts to embed stablecoins into its global payments network. Zerohash, which provides institutional crypto infrastructure, previously enabled Morgan Stanley’s rollout of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana trading on E*Trade in July. The firm also applied for a national trust bank charter in March to expand its custody services.
Recipients of Visa Direct payouts can now receive funds directly in stablecoins instead of local currency. The announcement follows Visa’s January pilot with BVNK to test stablecoin prefunding, signaling growing adoption of digital assets in mainstream finance.
