Veterans in Logistics has appointed John Tozer as its inaugural chairman to advance initiatives connecting and supporting military veterans in the freight and transportation sectors. Tozer, a former naval aviator with 13 years of service, brings operational and leadership experience from deployments across the Baltic, Middle East, and South China Sea regions.

The initiative was launched at the 2026 Broker-Carrier Summit in Kansas City. Tozer previously co-founded Newtrul, a digital freight-matching marketplace later acquired by Highway, where he now leads the Capacity Business Unit overseeing the Trusted Freight Exchange platform.

Tozer’s military honors include Squadron Pilot of the Year and Tactical Development and Evaluation Officer of the Year. His appointment aims to expand opportunities for veterans transitioning into logistics roles.
