Vertiv Holdings (NYSE: VRT) shares declined 27.9% in July, reflecting broader weakness in AI infrastructure stocks. The company, a key supplier of electrical and cooling systems for AI data centers, saw its stock caught in a sector-wide selloff despite posting 24% revenue growth to $3.72 billion in Q2.

The downturn followed a surge in AI semiconductor stocks earlier in the year, which reversed as short-seller activity and concerns over AI-focused hedge funds spooked investors. Vertiv’s earnings, while strong, failed to meet heightened expectations, exacerbating the decline.

Market sentiment turned negative after prominent short-seller Michael Burry disclosed bets against AI stocks, and China’s Kimi 3 model release added to volatility. Vertiv’s role in AI data center build-out made it particularly vulnerable to the pullback.
