VOO becomes the first ETF to surpass $1 trillion in assets as the S&P 500 nears record highs.
The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) has reached $1 trillion in assets, making it the first ETF to achieve this milestone. The fund has attracted $386 billion in net assets over the past three years, driven by a sustained bull market in the S&P 500.
In the last month alone, VOO gathered $50 billion in net inflows as the S&P 500 climbed 17% since April 1, approaching its all-time high of 7,620. The last significant outflows occurred in March 2026 during geopolitical tensions and a market decline.
Despite the rally, valuations are elevated, with the Shiller CAPE ratio at 41, its highest level since the dot-com boom in 1999. Rising inflation, mixed economic signals, and high interest rates add to market uncertainty.
