VOO surpasses $1 trillion milestone as investors favor low-cost, broad-market exposure amid strong long-term returns.

The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) has crossed $1 trillion in assets under management, marking a historic milestone for the fund. Launched in September 2010, VOO has delivered 15.18% annualized returns over the past 15 years, attracting significant investor inflows.

VOO tracks the S&P 500 index, offering exposure to 500 large-cap U.S. stocks. Its low-cost structure and consistent performance have made it a preferred choice for passive investors. Meanwhile, the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) holds 3,494 stocks and has slightly outperformed VOO in 2026, up 8.38% year-to-date compared to VOO’s 8.11% gain, a difference of 27 basis points.

Both funds provide diversified U.S. equity exposure, but VTI’s broader market coverage has appealed to some investors seeking additional small- and mid-cap exposure.
