Belgian baker acquires remaining 20% stake in Banneton, strengthening its North American manufacturing and distribution network.

Belgium-based Vandemoortele has acquired the remaining 20% stake in US bakery Banneton, securing full ownership of the company. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, though Vandemoortele previously purchased an 80% interest in 2024.

The deal expands Vandemoortele’s North American footprint, integrating Banneton’s New Jersey production facility into its operations. Banneton, founded in 2008, specializes in frozen croissants and pastries sold across retail and foodservice channels.

Vandemoortele stated the acquisition enables a hybrid model combining European imports with domestic US production, improving logistics and customer responsiveness. The Banneton brand will be retained under the new ownership.
