U.S. Trade Representative raises concerns over Canada’s trade deals, citing better terms for other countries and ongoing tariff disputes.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai’s office indicated Canada is providing more advantageous trade terms to other nations than those offered under the USMCA. The statement follows a year of U.S. requests for Canada to lift retaliatory tariffs imposed in response to Trump-era trade measures.

The USTR highlighted ongoing efforts to reduce the U.S.-Canada trade deficit, a priority for the Trump administration. Separately, the USTR noted progress with Europe on curbing subsidies, specifically citing Airbus’s receipt of unfair loans that disadvantage Boeing.

No immediate market reaction was reported following the remarks.
