Geopolitical risks and Fed minutes anticipation drive the Swiss Franc down 0.7% this week against the US Dollar.
The USD/CHF pair stabilized near the 0.8000 level on Wednesday, supported by renewed US-Iran tensions and cautious trading ahead of the Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes. The Swiss Franc has declined nearly 0.7% this week, pressured by geopolitical uncertainty and weaker domestic data.
Switzerland’s unemployment rate rose to 3.1% in June, its highest in nearly five years, adding to the Franc’s weakness. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s comments on Iran, calling off the ceasefire and revoking crude export authorizations, bolstered safe-haven demand for the Dollar.
Markets await the Fed’s minutes for clues on future rate hikes, though analysts expect limited forward guidance from Chairman Jerome Powell. The Dollar’s gains remain modest, with most currency pairs trading within recent ranges.
