The pair extends gains for a seventh day amid easing geopolitical risks and US tariffs on Swiss imports.
USD/CHF climbed to 0.8190 in European trading Tuesday, marking its seventh consecutive session of gains. The Swiss Franc weakened as safe-haven demand faded due to easing US-Iran tensions and a sharp decline in crude oil prices, while broader trade policy shifts added pressure.
The Trump administration imposed double-digit tariffs on Switzerland and over 60 other countries, though rates remain capped at 12.5%. The Swiss National Bank is expected to keep its policy rate at 0% through 2027, with inflation slowing to 0.5% in June and projected to peak at 0.8%.
The US Dollar held firm ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision Wednesday, contributing to the pair’s strength amid elevated market uncertainty.
