The US Treasury sanctioned individuals and entities linked to the Sinaloa Cartel for crypto-fueled fentanyl trafficking. Six Ethereum addresses, five tied to network head Armando de Jesus Ojeda Aviles, were added to the OFAC list, though most remain inactive.

The move follows a coordinated effort by the Homeland Security Task Force and DEA. Treasury officials emphasized the administration’s focus on disrupting cartel financing, including cryptocurrency conversions used to launder drug proceeds.

Sanctions target two networks accused of converting cash into crypto before transferring funds to the cartel. The action underscores growing regulatory scrutiny of digital assets in illicit finance.
