Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq 100 futures rise modestly as US debt buybacks aim to counter rising yields amid oil price pressures.

US stock futures showed modest gains in early European trading Friday, with Dow Jones futures up 0.13% at 52,900. S&P 500 futures rose 0.18% near 7,680, while Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 0.38% above 29,400. The moves came as the 10-year US Treasury yield held steady at 4.7%, following Washington’s efforts to curb elevated yields through a bond buyback program targeting long-end debt.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated debt buybacks could exceed the planned $4 billion per issue. However, Wall Street closed lower Thursday, with the Dow down 1.32%, the S&P 500 off 0.87%, and the Nasdaq Composite dropping 1%. Nine of 11 S&P sectors declined, led by consumer staples and health care.

Analysts warn the yield reprieve may be temporary, citing persistent inflation, rising deficits, and AI-driven investment demand as ongoing pressures. Oil prices added to macro uncertainty, weighing on sentiment despite buyback optimism.
