Government funding aims to accelerate zero-emission vehicle technology and manufacturing scale-up across 33 projects.
The UK Government has allocated £47m ($63.4m) to 33 automotive projects through its £4bn Drive35 programme, focusing on next-generation vehicle technology and commercialisation. The funding is part of broader efforts to support zero-emission vehicles, spanning early innovation to manufacturing scale-up.
The £47m allocation is projected to leverage over £90m in combined public and private investment. Projects cover electrification, battery technology, digitalisation, and circular economy approaches. The largest share, £26.9m, went to five scale-up initiatives, while early-stage start-ups received over £2.7m.
The funding aligns with the UK’s Advanced Manufacturing Sector Plan and Industrial Strategy, aiming to secure skilled jobs and maintain the country’s leadership in automotive innovation.
