Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has confirmed an additional $100 billion investment in its Arizona operations.

This investment brings the total US commitment to $265 billion, the largest foreign direct investment in the country’s history.

The new plants will use 2-nanometer technology and below, and will include packaging plants, allowing for the production of chips from start to finish on American soil.

The investment will fund four additional advanced facilities, bringing TSMC’s American footprint to 12 advanced semiconductor and packaging plants.
