A businessman under UK investigation for money laundering reportedly bought $100M in tokens from World Liberty Financial, linked to Trump’s family.

A UK businessman facing money laundering allegations purchased $100 million in tokens from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture tied to former US President Donald Trump’s family. The transaction, made in June 2025, involved WLFI tokens issued by the Trump-linked company, benefiting Trump family members and co-founder Zach Witkoff.

The buyer, Guren Zhou, operated through the Aqua 1 entity, a Web3 fund based in the UAE. Zhou was previously investigated in the UK following the collapse of a cryptocurrency business. Speculation initially pointed to Dave Lee, who joined Aqua 1 as CEO in April 2025, though his direct involvement in the $100M purchase remains unconfirmed.

The source of the funds raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, given the Trump administration’s ties to foreign actors. White House officials have denied any conflicts, though scrutiny over the transaction persists.
