Tyler Williams, a senior Treasury official shaping digital asset policy, departs as Congress stalls on crypto legislation.

The US Treasury Department lost Tyler Williams, a senior adviser overseeing digital asset policy and a key architect of the Trump administration’s crypto agenda. Williams, who joined in early 2025 after leading policy at Galaxy Digital, played a central role in advancing the administration’s goal of positioning the US as the “crypto capital of the world.”

His exit comes as Congress remains gridlocked over the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a market structure bill requiring 60 Senate votes to advance. The legislation has stalled due to disagreements over ethics provisions, with bipartisan support still elusive ahead of the August recess.

Analysts warn that further delays to the bill could pressure digital asset prices by prolonging regulatory uncertainty. Williams is expected to return to the private sector, though his next role has not been disclosed.
